Canon’s New Release Of The EOS 60Da Is Available Now….

Canon recently announced the successor to the EOS 20Da with the 60Da “catering to astronomers and hobbyists” who’d rather spend their clicks on galaxies than flowers and Earthlings.

According to Canon, there’s a “modified infrared filter and a low-noise sensor with heightened hydrogen-alpha sensitivity” — something that presumably means the world to astronomers.

In more understandable terms, it’s packing an 18-megapixel CMOS sensor (APS-C), a 3-inch Clear View LCD (you know, the flip-out kind), a nine-point autofocus system and TV-out support.

Canon Has Released A Firmware Update For The 5D Mark III....

Canon has released a Firmware update for the new 5D called Firmware Version 1.1.2 which incorporates the following improvements and fixes.

1. Supports a new accessory, GPS receiver GP-E2.
2. Fixes a phenomenon where a pink cast may develop over the image when the shutter is completely pressed with the camera’s power turned off (by the auto power off setting).
3. Fixes a phenomenon where the camera operation stops after one shot when shooting in High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode.
4. Fixes a phenomenon where the Shooting Date/Time in the EXIF data of the image shows a later time than the actual shooting time.
5. Fixes the time zone for the Samoa Islands.
6. Corrects errors in the Finnish menu screen.
Firmware Version 1.1.2 is for cameras with firmware up to version 1.0.7. If the camera's firmware is already Version 1.1.2, it is not necessary to update the firmware.

The new Firmware Version 1.1.2 can be downloaded by clicking here.

NOTE: Once on the "Drivers & Software" tab please choose operating system and version. Then expand the Firmware section and click on the firmware file name to access the details page. Choose "I Agree - Begin Download" button to start the download.

Nikon's Brand New Release Of The D3200 Is Now Available....

Nikon has announced the D3200 24MP entry-level DSLR that can be used with an optional WU-1a Wi-Fi module.

The camera can now shoot up to 1080p30 video (rather than the D3100's 24p) and has a 920k dot LCD, up from 230k dots.

Beyond this, and improved continuous shoot rate despite the pixel-count hike, the biggest change is the ability to add the Wi-Fi unit.

The WU-1a will be available from May and will initially support image upload and remote viewing/shutter release with a free app for Android phones (version 2.3 and newer). An iOS version of the app will follow later in the year. Details are vague but rumors are the app allows full-sized or VGA images to be transferred from the camera and that a live preview is available on the phone, but with only the ability to fire the trigger, not change camera settings.

This camera is already available with the 18-55 VR lens at http://www.fumfie.com

PANASONIC ANNOUNCES SOFTWARE UPGRADE FOR AG-AF100

Panasonic has introduced a software upgrade to augment the recording and shooting functions of its popular AG-AF100 Large Imager HD Cinema Camcorder. The upgrade (AG-SFU100) will enable acquisition in the 1080/60p and 1080/50p HD recording formats (in new 28Mbps PS mode), and will substitute the 2.39:1 aspect ratio marking for the current 2.35 marker.

Recording in the high-resolution 1080/60p and /50p master-quality formats is rapidly gaining popularity in broadcasting, sports and scientific analysis. The 2.39:1 marker in the AF100’s viewfinder/LCD monitor will be valuable for narrative and documentary shooters, as it is a standard aspect ratio for presenting films in movie theaters.

The AG-SFU100 software will be available in May.

Panasonic's AG-AF100 Micro Four Thirds Professional HD Camcorder represents an enormous leap forward in affordable, cinema-quality video imaging. Providing all the professional features that videographers expect in an interchangeable-lens camcorder--manual video and audio control, variable frame rates, HD-SDI and HDMI output, XLR inputs, timecode--the AG-AF100 plays its trump card with a large, 4/3-type image sensor. At 13 times the size of comparably priced 1/3" sensors (and almost 4 times larger than the 2/3" chips found in cameras costing more than twice as much), the AG-AF100's sensor brings the richness of DSLR video into a professional form factor.

A Picture Taken With a Camera And Lens Received From Fumfie Goes Viral....

Paul Spielvogel a photographer for Shark Diver Magazine and an attorney with Spielvogel and Spielvogel shot a photo in December 2010 of a lemon shark with Eli Martinez, Shark Magazine editor, in about 20 feet of water off the Bahamas. Upon closer inspection it seems like the shark was giving a high five, maybe even a faint smile.

Flash forward to this past weekend and all of a sudden the image started going viral online, appearing on People.com and Inside Edition.

“At first we were wondering what was going on, but then we figured it out,” Spielvogel said Wednesday.

The British publication The Sun had found the image and wanted to do a feature on it so editors there reached out to Shark Diving Magazine. Before long the image was out there, complete with its own demotivational poster that reminds readers nothing they will ever do will be as “awesome as” high-fiving a shark.

Spielvogel, who has had his work published on The Discovery Channel and various publications, shot the image with a Canon 7D camera, a Tokina 10-17mm lens and Aquatica housing.

The camera and lens were both received from none other than http://www.fumfie.com/
